Nothing but problems with this soap. Soaped too hot and the purple mica turned grey. Not a complete fail, at least I got it in the mold. It is scented with Beach Bum from Nature's Garden and even though it looks hideous, it smells amazing!
Do you see that pretty light grey? It was actually intended to be a nice deep purple using Tempest from Mad Micas. I do like the grey but it is surely not the look I was going for. This soap from the beginning has been a horribly painful experience.
I have had a lot of luck in the fragrances I have chosen so far but this one just did not want to play well at all. You will see in the video below what a mess it made.
I usually love making soap, it is relaxing and I get to be creative. This one however had me flustered, irritated and ready to throw it all in the trash!

I am calling this the Ugly Duckling Soap. Perfectly fine to use but extremely hard to look at LOL! I am not sure what I will do with these bars yet, I may use them myself except I really like pretty, girly soaps. Maybe friends and family can look past the HUGE imperfections and enjoy the amazing scent of this one.
Well there is a picture of the top. As you can see I TRIED to add some gold mica along with the beautiful purple mica and just a little bit of glitter. Obviously it did not help in the slightest.
I can't blame it all on the fragrance though, I usually soap between 86-98 degrees. This time it was a little over 100 degrees and I certainly learned my lesson. I was in a rush and had to get it done because I had other things to do yesterday. You can bet I won't be doing that again anytime soon.
Would you like to see the finished product? Well if not then scroll right past the Ugly Duckling...
No Glamor shots for this beast. The only thing I can say is that the layers look pretty neat and is something I have never done in a soap before. Like I said earlier it may look ridiculous but it smells heavenly.
All I know at thispoint is that I have done it now, I have had my first soap making fail and with that out of the way I hope the next one will be a little prettier!
I am sure if you are a soap maker and reading this it has happened to you,if it hasn't yet, well it will, it is just a matter of time! Just keep calm and carry on. Don't let it get the best of you!
